Technically, when a message is caught in a spam trap, abuse.ro analyzes the sender domain. If the domain is confirmed as not spoofed, it is added to dbl.abuse.ro. Mail server administrators can use this blocklist (blacklist) to reject or filter mail from listed sender domains. abuse.ro does not block email directly; it provides DNS-based data that receiving systems choose whether to use.

How do I get delisted from abuse.ro Domain Blacklist (DBL)?
The delisting process from this blocklist is manual. Before requesting removal, confirm the domain is still listed and stop the source of the spam associated with your domain. This includes checks such as:
- Remediating infected user mailboxes, compromised account credentials, and systems that send mail for the domain.
- Securing web forms, contact forms, and applications that can be abused to send unsolicited mail.
- Confirming newsletters and marketing mail go only to recipients who clearly opted in, then removing unengaged, invalid, purchased, or scraped addresses.
- Reviewing DMARC aggregate reports in Suped to confirm which services are sending as your domain and to spot unauthorized sources before you ask for delisting.
Once the spam flow has stopped, send a delisting request from the domain's postmaster address, for example postmaster@yourdomain.com, to admin@abuse.ro or the current contact address published by abuse.ro.
