vs.
Across 90 days we configured a corporate domain, a marketing subdomain, and a parked domain with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and a support desk sender. DMARC Expert gave us the more complete managed path toward enforcement, while DMARC Report Viewer gave us a free self-hosted report lens that still left classification, policy movement, and operations in our hands.

Ten dimensions, scored from 0 to 10

We scored each product against a fixed editorial rubric based on the same 90-day setup, the same three domains, and the same authentication cases. Higher is better in every row.

DMARC Expert scored higher on managed enforcement, while DMARC Report Viewer scored higher on ownership control.

DMARC Expert moved us closer to quarantine planning because it paired aggregate data with DNS alerts, hosted SPF, and support sessions. DMARC Report Viewer kept raw evidence accessible at $0, but the unknown sender, forwarded SPF failure, and spoof sample all required our own classification notes. The open-source tool earned credit for transparency and self-hosting, not for managed remediation.

Feature set

Managed coverage vs raw visibility

DMARC Expert has the broader security package. DMARC Report Viewer has the cleaner self-hosted core.

DMARC Expert covered more of the buying checklist because it combined DMARC analysis with DNS alerts, hosted SPF, spoof detection, Google Postmaster alerts, and blacklist/blocklist checks. DMARC Report Viewer stayed narrower, but it gave us usable aggregate and TLS report parsing without a subscription. Suped's guided fixes and automated issue detection are useful buying criteria here, because both products left at least one manual decision point in the unknown sender or forwarding cases.

Google Workspace visible by IP
Forwarded SPF failure visible
TLS reports parsed cleanly
DMARC Expert recognized Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace traffic quickly and kept DKIM-passing mail easy to separate from SPF-only passes. SendGrid and Mailchimp were visible as approved marketing senders after we added labels, and the platform's DNS alerts caught the hosted SPF record change during our second test month. The unknown sender was not fully resolved without our owner note, but the unauthorized spoof sample and DKIM pass on a subdomain were surfaced in a way that supported policy discussion.
DMARC Report Viewer ingested the same aggregate files through IMAP and gave us domain, reporting organization, pass/fail, ranked source, and individual report views. It showed Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, and Mailchimp traffic, but mainly through IP and DNS clues rather than owner-ready service labels. The DKIM pass on a subdomain and forwarded mail with SPF failure were visible in the reports, but the tool did not tell us which fix to make next.

User experience

Guidance vs operator control

DMARC Expert reduced setup ambiguity. DMARC Report Viewer rewarded technical patience.

DMARC Expert took more account setup, but the path through the three domains was clearer once support and DNS monitoring were in place. DMARC Report Viewer was lighter to open and inspect, but every operational choice stayed with us, including mailbox access, HTTPS, backups, and report retention.

DMARC report viewer

Docker setup was direct
Parked domain stayed readable
Forwarding required outside context
Onboarding the corporate domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain took one working session once DNS access was ready. The product guided us through TXT record checks and showed Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace as expected mail flow before we added SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender. Finding the unknown sender took a drilldown and our own label, but the forwarded mail SPF failure was explainable because DKIM passing stayed visible.
DMARC Report Viewer felt fast after Docker and IMAP were configured, and the parked domain stayed easy to watch because there was very little legitimate traffic. The corporate domain needed more manual scanning because source names, owner labels, and policy recommendations were not built into the workflow. The unknown sender was visible by IP, and the forwarded SPF failure required us to cross-check the original authentication path outside the tool.

Support

Hands-on help vs community operation

DMARC Expert has clearer support expectations. DMARC Report Viewer depends on in-house ops.

DMARC Expert's paid plan includes scheduled Webex support, so setup questions and DNS handoff had a defined path. DMARC Report Viewer had documentation and a public project model, but no commercial escalation path or enterprise onboarding package was visible in our test.
dmarc-expert.com logo
DMARC Expert
DMARC Expert screenshot
Webex sessions included
DNS handoff had structure
Enterprise scope needs confirmation
github.com logo
DMARC report viewer

Documentation covered deployment
No SLA was visible
Escalation stayed internal
During setup, DMARC Expert's support model suited the DNS handoff we needed for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, hosted SPF, and the marketing subdomain. The two included support sessions would be enough for a competent team to validate records and discuss quarantine timing, but enterprise onboarding still needs scope confirmation because support-session counts and volume bands were not fully public.
DMARC Report Viewer gave us enough deployment documentation to run the app, connect IMAP, enable Basic Auth, and expose the web UI over HTTPS. When we hit classification questions, support became our own operating process: review the repository, inspect the XML, check DNS and WHOIS, then write the owner note. That is acceptable for a technical team, but it is not a managed support handoff.

Suitability

Enterprise fit vs operator fit

DMARC Expert fits managed programs. DMARC Report Viewer fits technical teams that accept ownership.

DMARC Expert is the clearer fit for organizations that want managed DMARC progress, support handoff, and add-on detection. DMARC Report Viewer is the clearer fit when the priority is $0 software, self-hosting, and direct access to reports. Suped's MSP workflows and alert quality are useful buying criteria when account separation, recurring reporting, and client handoff cannot be improvised.
dmarc-expert.com logo
DMARC Expert
DMARC Expert screenshot
Enterprise programs fit better
MSSP tier exists
Client limits need quotes
github.com logo
DMARC report viewer
DMARC report viewer screenshot
SMB self-hosting fits
Account separation is manual
Recurring reports need work
DMARC Expert made the most sense for enterprise and MSSP-style buyers in our test because the paid model includes support sessions, monitoring, hosted SPF, and an MSSP dashboard option. Domain grouping worked for our corporate domain and marketing subdomain, and the parked domain gave a clean spoof watch view. Recurring reports and client handoff were plausible, but the service-provider tier needs quote confirmation before an MSP can plan margins.
DMARC Report Viewer fit the SMB or operator who wants to run one instance, read reports directly, and avoid subscription spend. Account separation was not the point of the tool: an MSP would need separate instances, mailbox rules, access controls, and report exports to create client boundaries. Recurring reporting and handoff notes stayed manual, which was fine for one parked domain but heavy for multiple clients.

What each tool feels like after 90 days of real use

dmarc-expert.com logo
DMARC Expert

Best when a team wants managed enforcement planning

After 90 days, DMARC Expert felt like a managed DMARC workbench rather than a raw report reader. The corporate domain and marketing subdomain had enough activity to make the DNS monitoring, hosted SPF, Postmaster alerts, and spoof detection useful, while the parked domain made the unauthorized spoof sample easy to isolate.
Day-to-day use still depended on clean internal ownership. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace were straightforward, SendGrid and Mailchimp needed labeling, and the unknown sender needed a decision outside the platform before we treated it as approved or blocked.

DMARC report viewer

Best when a technical operator wants free self-hosting

After 90 days, DMARC Report Viewer felt like a practical self-hosted window into report mail. It parsed XML aggregate reports and JSON TLS reports, and its ranked source views helped us spot Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender.
The tradeoff was operational ownership. We had to manage the mailbox, Docker host, HTTPS, authentication, retention, backups, classification, and policy notes. The forwarded SPF failure and unknown sender were visible, but the tool did not explain whether to change DNS, contact a vendor, or move policy.

If you cannot decide between the two, maybe the answer is Suped

Suped dashboard
Resolve unknown senders
DMARC Expert still needed our owner note for the unknown sender, and DMARC Report Viewer only showed IP and DNS clues. Suped's product can turn that source into a fix task with owner context.
Reduce self-hosting burden
DMARC Report Viewer left mailbox retention, HTTPS, backups, access control, and upgrades with us. Suped's product removes that operating work for teams that want hosted reporting.
Route useful alerts
DMARC Expert had alerts, but pricing and add-on scope needed confirmation; DMARC Report Viewer had webhook notifications without policy guidance. Suped's product focuses alerts on authentication changes, spoofing, and sender issues that need action.
The difference was significant. We moved from limited visibility to a much clearer dashboard. Being able to see specific services like Stripe, rather than generic providers like Amazon SES, helps us resolve email authentication issues faster.
