Abusix Domain Blocklist

The Abusix domain blacklist (or blocklist) tracks domains and IPs in spam message bodies, including those found within shortened URLs.
Updated on 18 Jun 2026: We updated this guide with clearer Abusix domain listing causes, delisting checks, and the difference between URI, RHSBL, and connecting-IP lookups.

What is Abusix domain blocklist?
The Abusix Domain Blocklist (dblack.mail.abusix.zone) is a DNS-based blacklist (blocklist) of domains and bare IP addresses found within the body of spam emails. Abusix builds it from messages that hit its spam trap infrastructure. The list also follows shortened URLs found in spam messages and can list both the intermediate and final destination domains.
Technically, this blocklist is intended for use as a URI DNSBL, which means it checks domain names and IP addresses found inside the content of an email. It can also function as an RHSBL, checking domains from email headers such as rDNS, HELO, MAIL FROM, and DKIM. Do not use this blocklist to check the connecting IP address of a mail server.
When a domain or IP is queried against the Abusix Domain Blocklist, it returns specific codes indicating the reason for the listing:
- 127.0.1.1: The domain or IP was found directly in the message body of a spam email.
- 127.0.1.2: The domain is newly observed or has been identified through another Abusix trap pattern.
- 127.0.1.3: The domain was found by following a short URL link from a spam message.
A listing on this blacklist usually expires automatically about 5.2 days after the last bad event Abusix observed.
Why domains get listed
A Domain Blocklist listing usually means Abusix found the domain or a bare IP in spam content. It does not always mean your mail server sent the spam, because a compromised website or abused form can put your domain into spam sent by someone else.
- Compromised websites can host spam landing pages, phishing pages, malware, or redirects that are then used in spam sent from other systems.
- Abusable registration forms, mailing list forms, and send-to-a-friend forms can append your domain to messages created by bots.
- Professional spam or purchased-list campaigns can put your domain in message bodies often enough to hit Abusix traps.
- Short URL abuse can expose both the shortened-link domain and the destination domain after redirects are followed.
Abusix normalizes many domains to their organizational domain using the Mozilla Public Suffix List, which prevents throwaway subdomains from avoiding a listing. For shared hosting or subdomain services, Abusix can use exceptions so only the abusive customer subdomain is listed.
Who runs Abusix domain blocklist?
Abusix runs the Abusix Domain Blocklist as part of its mail intelligence data. Abusix provides network abuse management, email security, and threat intelligence services for ISPs, telecommunications providers, hosting providers, and cloud networks. The Domain Blocklist is one of its DNS-based datasets for blocking spam, phishing, malware, and other email-borne abuse.
How do I get removed from Abusix domain blocklist?
Before requesting removal, identify and fix the cause of the listing. For this domain blacklist, do not stop at mail authentication checks. Review the website, web forms, redirects, and any URL paths used in recent campaigns.
- Patch CMS software, plugins, themes, and hosting accounts that attackers can use to place spam, phishing, malware, or redirects on your domain.
- Lock down registration, newsletter, contact, and send-to-a-friend forms with confirmed opt-in, rate limits, and anti-bot controls.
- Stop using purchased lists, appended lists, or very old contacts with no interaction for more than two years.
- Fix broken bounce handling and engagement management so bad addresses stop receiving mail.
- Check for compromised accounts, infected devices, and unauthorized outbound mail sources.
- Review DMARC aggregate data and outbound logs to confirm which services are sending for the domain. Suped's DMARC reporting can help map legitimate and unauthorized sources, but an Abusix delisting still depends on fixing the abuse source.
After the issue is fixed, use the Abusix Lookup and Delisting page. Abusix requires a free account because anonymous delisting was abused. Enter the listed domain or IP, review the list details, and follow the portal steps. Delisting is processed immediately, and DNS updates normally reach users within five minutes.
What's the impact of being listed on Abusix domain blocklist?
The impact of being listed on the Abusix Domain Blocklist is usually medium and depends on which recipients use Abusix data. ISPs, telecommunications companies, hosting providers, and private mail systems can use the blocklist to reject or filter messages. If your domain or a URI in your message body is listed, recipients using Abusix can block the message even when the connecting sending IP has no listing.
Bounce messages often mention Abusix Mail Intelligence, Guardian Mail, or include a lookup.abusix.com delisting URL. Check the affected bounces before assuming every mailbox provider is blocking the same mail, because this blacklist affects receivers that query Abusix for content or header reputation.
