DMARC Expert
vs.
We tested Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense and DMARC Expert for 90 days across a primary corporate domain, a marketing subdomain, and a parked domain. Proofpoint gave us the stronger enterprise enforcement path, especially for spoof handling and managed DNS handoff. DMARC Expert felt easier for a hands-on operator that wants DMARC reporting, DNS change alerts, Google Postmaster signals, and blacklist/blocklist checks without a large enterprise project.

Best for enterprise teams that need a managed path to reject
It separated our unauthorized spoof sample from legitimate Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace traffic quickly.
It turned SendGrid and the support desk sender into enforcement tasks with owner notes and DNS handoff.
It handled the parked domain well, with a clear route to reject once no approved senders appeared.
Not publicly listed
Pick DMARC Expert if
Best for operators that want DMARC monitoring plus expert sessions
It was faster to set up across the primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain.
It added DNS change alerts, Google Postmaster spam alerts, and IP blacklist/blocklist checks on Premium.
It gave enough report detail to explain the forwarded SPF failure, but sender ownership stayed manual.
From EUR 105 / month
Consider Suped if
Suped is the third option for guided fixes, hosted records, and simpler ownership
Guided fixes matter when Microsoft 365, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and support desk traffic need different owner actions.
Automated issue detection should flag new sources, broken records, and spoof attempts without creating alert noise.
Published starter pricing and MSP workflows reduce the custom-quote work that slowed this comparison.

Ten dimensions, scored from 0 to 10

We scored both products against a fixed editorial rubric based on the 90-day test setup. Higher is better in every row, and a dead 0.0 means we did not find support for that capability in the tested scope.

Proofpoint scored higher on enforcement depth, while DMARC Expert scored better on pricing clarity and reputation add-ons

Proofpoint pulled ahead when the task was to classify Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender into a defensible reject plan. Its weaker scores came from quote-led pricing, enterprise setup friction, and no blacklist/blocklist monitoring in our tested scope. DMARC Expert was easier to start and had useful DNS plus reputation alerts, but it needed more manual sender ownership work and did not give us the same confidence for a rapid reject move.

Feature set

Depth vs breadth

Proofpoint has deeper enforcement coverage. DMARC Expert has broader add-ons.

Proofpoint gave us more confidence for reject readiness because it tied source discovery to enforcement work. DMARC Expert covered more adjacent monitoring, especially DNS changes, blacklist/blocklist checks, and Google Postmaster alerts, but it needed more manual classification. Suped's guided fixes are a useful benchmark here: visibility should produce a specific DNS or sender-owner action.

Microsoft 365 resolved cleanly
SendGrid owner steps were clear
Forwarded SPF context surfaced

DMARC Expert

Google Workspace setup was simple
Mailchimp needed manual owner tags
Unknown sender stayed reviewable
Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense grouped Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace quickly once the DMARC records were live on all three domains. SendGrid and the support desk sender needed owner notes, but the platform tied them to enforcement tasks and made the unauthorized spoof sample stand out from legitimate marketing traffic. The SPF pass with visible From mismatch was flagged as a policy risk rather than treated as clean, and the forwarded mail SPF failure was explained through downstream receiver evidence.
DMARC Expert was wider around adjacent monitoring. It handled Google Workspace and Mailchimp setup cleanly, showed DNS change alerts, and added IP blacklist/blocklist checks plus Google Postmaster spam alerts on the Premium tier. SendGrid and the unknown sender required more manual labeling, and the DKIM pass on a marketing subdomain needed an operator to decide whether the source belonged under the parent domain or the subdomain owner.

User experience

Control vs guidance

Proofpoint gives administrators more control. DMARC Expert is easier for daily operators.

Proofpoint felt like an enterprise security console, with strong evidence trails and more clicks to reach the answer. DMARC Expert was quicker to explain during handoff, especially for the forwarded SPF failure, but it asked the operator to make more classification decisions.

Three-domain setup felt managed

Forwarding detail took clicks
dmarc-expert.com logo
DMARC Expert
DMARC Expert screenshot
DNS steps were readable
Manual sender labels mattered
Forwarding explanation was clearer
Proofpoint onboarding across the primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain felt like a managed project. The DNS steps were precise, but the screens assumed a security team was tracking ownership, not a single operator. The unknown sender appeared near other unauthenticated sources quickly, although explaining the forwarded SPF failure required drilling into receiver-level evidence.
DMARC Expert onboarding was lighter. The primary domain and parked domain were quick to add, and the marketing subdomain setup was readable enough for a DNS owner to finish without a long handoff. The unknown sender stayed unresolved until we labeled it manually, but the forwarded SPF failure was easier to explain because the report view separated the SPF result from the surviving DKIM evidence.

Support

Hands-on help vs self-serve support

Proofpoint has stronger enterprise handoff. DMARC Expert has lighter expert access.

Proofpoint was better when we treated DMARC as a formal enterprise change program with DNS handoff, escalation, and policy movement. DMARC Expert was easier to consume in smaller blocks, but the support ceiling depended more on the purchased tier and add-ons.

Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense

Enterprise onboarding was structured
DNS handoff was formal
Escalation path needed scheduling
dmarc-expert.com logo
DMARC Expert
DMARC Expert screenshot
Webex sessions were practical
DNS notes were concise
Escalation depended on plan
Proofpoint support was structured around implementation. During setup, the DNS handoff notes were formal enough for a separate infrastructure team, and escalation had a clearer route once we framed the spoof sample and forwarded SPF failure as policy blockers. The tradeoff was scheduling: enterprise onboarding worked well, but it was not instant when we needed a narrow clarification.
DMARC Expert support matched the subscription model. The Premium support sessions were practical for checking our records, explaining the Mailchimp and SendGrid sources, and turning the unknown sender into a short action list. Enterprise onboarding and escalation were less transparent before purchase because session counts, takedown work, and consulting depth were not fully public.

Suitability

Enterprise fit vs operator fit

Proofpoint fits enterprise programs. DMARC Expert fits hands-on teams.

Proofpoint made most sense when a security team needed formal account separation, executive reporting, and a managed path to reject. DMARC Expert fit teams that wanted a consultant-style SaaS workflow with domain monitoring and periodic action plans. For MSP buyers, Suped's client grouping, alert quality, and published per-domain MSP pricing are practical criteria to compare before committing to custom terms.

MSP reporting felt heavy

DMARC Expert

Good for SMB operators
MSSP tier is custom
Action plans aid handoff
Proofpoint worked best when we treated the three domains as part of a larger enterprise program. Account separation was strong enough for the primary corporate domain, the marketing subdomain, and the parked domain to have distinct owner notes, but recurring reporting felt designed for internal security leadership. For MSP use, client handoff was possible, although the workflow felt heavier than a client-first reporting model.
DMARC Expert fit SMB and operator-led use better. Domain grouping was easy to understand, and the yearly action plan model gave us a useful handoff artifact after we classified Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender. The MSSP tier exists for service providers, but pricing, client counts, and included support needed confirmation before we could treat it as a repeatable MSP workflow.

What each tool feels like after 90 days of real use

Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense

A managed enterprise route to reject

After 90 days, Proofpoint felt strongest once the approved senders were known. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace grouped cleanly, SendGrid and Mailchimp became owner-driven tasks, and the support desk sender had a clear approval path before policy movement.
Daily use was heavier than DMARC Expert. The report drilldowns were useful when we needed evidence for the unauthorized spoof sample or the SPF pass with visible From mismatch, but smaller teams will spend more time learning where Proofpoint keeps each answer.

DMARC Expert

A practical DMARC workflow for smaller operators

DMARC Expert felt usable faster. The primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain were easy to add, and the DNS monitoring plus Google Postmaster alerts gave the setup more value than plain DMARC report viewing.
The main friction was ownership. The unknown sender, SendGrid stream, and Mailchimp stream needed manual labeling before the action plan was reliable, and the path to reject depended on the operator keeping those decisions current.

If you cannot decide between the two, maybe the answer is Suped

Suped dashboard
Guided sender fixes
Proofpoint identified legitimate senders well, but the next DNS and owner action often sat inside enterprise workflow. Suped turns Microsoft 365, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and support desk findings into fix steps for the domain owner.
Cleaner MSP handoff
DMARC Expert's MSSP path had custom terms and needed manual client notes in our test. Suped uses per-domain MSP pricing, client grouping, and recurring reports for handoff.
Actionable alerts
Proofpoint alerts felt built for a SOC queue, while DMARC Expert's DNS and blacklist/blocklist checks still needed tuning. Suped focuses alerts on authentication breaks, new sending sources, and spoof attempts that need action.
The difference was significant. We moved from limited visibility to a much clearer dashboard. Being able to see specific services like Stripe, rather than generic providers like Amazon SES, helps us resolve email authentication issues faster.
