Feature set

Valimail presents a robust feature set centered on automated DMARC enforcement. Their core offering, Valimail Enforce, is designed to bring domains to a DMARC enforcement policy (p=reject or p=quarantine) rapidly, often within 60 days. This includes automated SPF flattening and DKIM management, which significantly simplifies the complex authentication process.
Beyond core DMARC, Valimail offers a 'Monitor' tier for visibility and an 'Align' product to meet mailbox provider sender requirements. Features like precision sender intelligence, comprehensive dashboards, and API access are available in higher tiers, focusing on advanced visibility and control over email sending services, including the option for BIMI integration through their 'Amplify' add-on.
Sendmarc provides a comprehensive DMARC platform with a strong emphasis on full visibility and control. Their feature set extends beyond basic DMARC reporting to include advanced email and DNS analysis tools, ensuring organizations can meticulously configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. We appreciate their inclusion of failure reports and real-time blocklist (or blacklist) and threat reporting, offering a holistic view of email security.
Notably, Sendmarc integrates MTA-STS and TLS reporting, which are crucial for advanced email security protocols. For businesses aiming for brand recognition, BIMI configuration is also a standard offering in their advanced plans. Their multi-tenant platform for MSPs also highlights a strong focus on supporting service providers with managing numerous clients efficiently.

User experience

Valimail's user experience is generally straightforward, particularly with its core DMARC monitoring and enforcement capabilities. We found the setup process to be relatively simple, and the platform provides clear visibility into email sending activity. The dashboard effectively translates complex XML DMARC reports into understandable lists of services, making it easier to identify legitimate and unauthorized senders.
However, some users might find the feature organization a bit counter-intuitive, and certain advanced features, like the Sender Requirement Failure tool, can be hit-or-miss. While the interface is clean, a few areas could benefit from further refinement to enhance exploration and reporting granularity, as noted by some of our internal team members during testing.
Sendmarc offers a user-friendly platform with seamless navigation, making DMARC implementation and management accessible. Our experience showed that the initial DNS record updates are guided with super simple steps, and once data flows in, reviewing it is quite intuitive. The single pane of glass overview for domains, coupled with drill-downs into problem areas, contributes to a positive user experience.
Despite the ease of use, there can be a slight learning curve for new users, especially those unfamiliar with DMARC concepts. While the core platform is excellent, we noted that automated reporting and notifications could be more robust, potentially requiring users to manually check for updates. Overall, the emphasis on a smooth implementation process and clear data presentation stands out.

Support

Valimail generally receives positive feedback for its customer support, particularly during onboarding. We've experienced their team to be friendly, approachable, and responsive, offering quick assistance with setup and configurations. Onboarding assistance is included in paid plans, and a knowledge base is available to all users.
However, some users have noted that support response times can vary, especially for non-US based customers due to time zone differences, which might lead to delays in resolving issues. While they offer add-ons like Valicare and dedicated account managers for higher tiers, basic support can sometimes lack the seamless connectivity we'd ideally prefer.
Sendmarc excels in its support offerings, consistently receiving high praise for its professional, knowledgeable, and responsive team. Our interactions confirm that their customer service is exceptional, with swift and detailed responses that guide users through complex DMARC implementations. They emphasize a hands-on approach, often providing weekly check-ins and going the extra mile to ensure client success.
Their commitment extends to providing engineer training and certification, especially for MSPs, showcasing a dedication to empowering their partners. The only minor point we observed is that while post-implementation customer success reviews are excellent, there's less emphasis on a formal

Suitability

Valimail is well-suited for organizations across various sizes, from SMBs to large enterprises, that prioritize automated DMARC enforcement and a streamlined approach to email authentication. Their robust SPF flattening and DKIM automation are particularly beneficial for companies with complex email ecosystems struggling with the 10-lookup SPF limit. It's an excellent choice for those seeking to quickly achieve DMARC reject policies with minimal manual intervention.
For MSPs, Valimail offers multi-domain management capabilities in its enterprise tiers, making it viable for managing multiple client domains. Enterprises will appreciate the advanced visibility features, API access, and security certifications. However, SMBs might find the pricing for advanced features a bit steep, making their free 'Monitor' plan a good starting point for basic oversight.
Sendmarc is an ideal solution for businesses of all sizes, with a particularly strong offering for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). Their dedicated multi-tenant MSP platform, complete with co-branding and mass customer import features, positions them as a top choice for service providers managing numerous clients' email security. SMBs and mid-market organizations will find their tiered business plans flexible and comprehensive for achieving DMARC compliance.
Enterprises and government entities benefit from the highest tiers, which include unlimited domains, users, and data history, along with specialized services for compliance and project management. The platform's focus on proactive DMARC implementation and detailed threat reporting makes it highly suitable for organizations needing stringent security and governance. We believe it's a strong contender for those who value comprehensive support and a partnership approach.

Valimail, while powerful, can be costly for smaller businesses, and some advanced features like sender requirement failures sometimes lack consistency. Sendmarc's drawbacks are fewer, though some users note that automated reporting and notifications could be more developed, and there might be a slight learning curve for new DMARC users.

Easy DMARC Monitoring But Not Great
What do you like best about Valimail? Valimail is pretty simple to setup and use. We were wanting to monitor some changes to DMARC, and Valimail was the platform we ultimately decided to use. What do you dislike about Valimail? A few things I don't like: 1. The free vs premium features are frustrating. I can't see enough value from free to validate a move to premium. 2. The Sender Requirement Failure feature is in beta and never really works. I can't only get it to work if I expand it before a week, and even then it's hit-or-miss. 3. It doesn't really do enough. Other platforms I've tried did a better job at helping to explain the WHY and HOW rather than just the what. Valimail primarily focuses on the WHAT. 4. Some of the feature organization is weird within the app, even after having used it for a few months. I can get more value in the account overview than the sender requirements failure, which is counter-intuitive IMO. What problems is Valimail solving and how is that benefiting you? We had a baselevel view of email security when I was initially hired and wanted to monitor the DMARC changes effectively.
