Ten dimensions, scored from 0 to 10

We scored both products against a fixed editorial rubric built around the 90-day setup: three domains, five approved senders, controlled authentication cases, alert review, exports, pricing, and support handoff. Higher is better in every row, and a missing capability receives 0.0.

Skysnag scores higher on DMARC operations; Barracuda scores higher when bundled security matters

Skysnag separated SendGrid, Mailchimp, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and the support desk into cleaner source records, then connected those records to hosted SPF, hosted DMARC, and MTA-STS work. Barracuda was easier when Microsoft 365 was already the center of the deployment, but standalone sender classification and DNS remediation required more operator notes. Barracuda has stronger enterprise onboarding expectations through the wider Email Protection purchase, while Skysnag had clearer DMARC enforcement movement.

Feature set

Authentication depth vs bundle reach

Skysnag is deeper for DMARC operations. Barracuda is broader inside Email Protection.

Skysnag gave us more purpose-built work for hosted SPF, hosted DMARC, MTA-STS, and sender cleanup. Barracuda covered DMARC reporting inside a larger email protection package, which is useful when procurement already groups those controls. Suped's product is relevant as a benchmark here: guided fixes and automated issue detection should turn unknown senders into owner-ready tasks, because that is where DMARC projects slow down.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection screenshot
Microsoft 365 appeared quickly
Google Workspace needed labeling
Subdomain DKIM required notes
Skysnag's feature set felt purpose-built for DMARC enforcement. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace showed as expected platform senders, SendGrid and Mailchimp became distinct sources after we tagged their DKIM domains, and the support desk sender needed one manual owner note before it stopped looking unknown. The SPF pass with visible From-domain mismatch was easier to explain because Skysnag kept the authentication result and policy result close together.
Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection worked best when the sender was already part of the Microsoft 365-centered Email Protection workflow. Google Workspace and the support desk sender needed more manual classification, while SendGrid and Mailchimp were clear enough for reporting once the DMARC aggregate reports accumulated. The DKIM pass on the marketing subdomain was visible, but the next remediation step was less direct than Skysnag's hosted-record path.

User experience

Control vs guided path

Skysnag exposes more controls. Barracuda is calmer for existing suite users.

Skysnag put more DMARC levers in front of us, which helped once we knew which sender needed work. Barracuda had fewer DMARC-specific screens and was easier for a Microsoft 365 admin to live in, but it took extra notes to explain sender edge cases to non-specialists.

Microsoft 365 onboarding was fast
Unknown sender needed notes
Forwarding explanation was manual
Onboarding the corporate domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain in Skysnag took more DNS steps, especially where hosted SPF and DMARC were involved. After setup, finding the unknown sender took two report filters and one owner label, and the forwarded mail SPF failure was easier to explain because the DKIM pass stayed visible next to the failed SPF result.
Barracuda's Microsoft 365 connection made the corporate domain feel lighter to start, while the marketing subdomain and parked domain still needed TXT verification and report warm-up time. Finding the unknown sender took longer because the UI grouped it less specifically, and the forwarded mail SPF failure needed an operator note explaining that forwarding broke SPF while DKIM still protected the message.

Support

Specialist help vs enterprise channel

Skysnag gave more DMARC-specific help. Barracuda fit formal support paths.

Skysnag support was most useful when DNS ownership and policy movement were the problem. Barracuda support fit teams that already use Barracuda support channels, but DMARC-specific escalation depended more on the wider Email Protection context.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection screenshot
Formal support path fit enterprises
Microsoft 365 help was direct
Standalone DNS needed preparation
During setup, Skysnag's handoff material was strongest around DNS records, hosted SPF, and the order of policy changes. We still had to translate a few steps for the parked domain owner, but the escalation notes tied the spoof sample and From-domain mismatch to specific DMARC actions.
Barracuda's support expectations felt more enterprise-shaped. The Microsoft 365-connected domain had the cleanest onboarding path, while the standalone marketing subdomain and parked domain needed more internal DNS handoff before a support conversation was productive. Escalation made sense inside Email Protection, but it was less focused on pure DMARC enforcement than Skysnag.

Suitability

Operator fit vs suite fit

Skysnag fits DMARC operators. Barracuda fits suite buyers.

Skysnag is the cleaner fit when the main job is moving domains toward enforcement with hosted records and repeatable source cleanup. Barracuda is a better fit when DMARC reporting is one control inside a broader Email Protection decision. Suped's product is relevant for buyers that need MSP workflows, sharper alert quality, and owner-ready handoff notes across many client domains.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Good for suite buyers
Enterprise grouping was acceptable
MSP packaging was manual
Skysnag handled account separation better for our DMARC-only operating model. The corporate domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain could be grouped into a recurring report without hiding sender detail, and MSP-style handoff notes were usable after we added owners for SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender.
Barracuda suited the enterprise buyer who already wants Email Protection, backup, archiving, awareness training, or related controls in the same purchase. Domain grouping was enough for internal reporting, but client-by-client handoff for an MSP required more manual packaging, especially for the parked domain and unknown sender classification.

What each tool feels like after 90 days of real use

skysnag.com logo
Skysnag

DMARC-heavy teams with DNS control

Skysnag felt like a DMARC workbench after the first week. The primary domain needed the most DNS work because we used hosted DMARC and SPF, but the marketing subdomain became easier once SendGrid and Mailchimp were labeled separately.
By day 90, the biggest day-to-day value was in checking policy movement and sender changes. The unauthorized spoof sample was easy to isolate, the unknown support desk sender needed one manual owner label, and the forwarded mail SPF failure was explainable without treating it as a spoof.
Where it wins
Hosted DMARC, SPF, and MTA-STS in one workflow
Good source separation for marketing senders
Clearer path to quarantine and reject
Blocklist (blacklist) monitoring on higher tier
Where it lags
DNS setup needs technical ownership
Current volume limits are not fully public
New users face a dense interface
Extra domains often need quote confirmation

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Barracuda buyers who want DMARC included

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection felt best when we treated it as part of Email Protection, not as a standalone DMARC operations tool. The Microsoft 365-connected domain appeared quickest, while Google Workspace, the marketing subdomain, and the parked domain still depended on DNS verification and report warm-up.
After 90 days, the reporting gave enough signal for spoof monitoring and executive summaries, but daily sender cleanup needed more notes. The unknown sender took longer to classify, and the forwarded SPF failure required a written explanation for stakeholders who expected every fail result to mean abuse.
Where it wins
Clean fit for Microsoft 365 environments
DMARC included in Email Protection tiers
Clear suspicious-domain alerts
Good executive reporting context
Where it lags
DMARC volume limits are not public
No hosted SPF or MTA-STS workflow
Unknown sender classification felt manual
MSP client handoff needs extra packaging

If you cannot decide between the two, maybe the answer is Suped

Suped dashboard
Guided sender ownership
Skysnag separated SendGrid and Mailchimp well, but the support desk sender still needed a manual owner note. Suped's product connects source identification to fix steps and accountable owners.
Hosted record fixes
Barracuda reported the forwarded SPF failure but did not give us a hosted SPF or MTA-STS path. Suped's product keeps hosted SPF, DMARC, and MTA-STS changes in the operational workflow.
Client-ready workflows
Barracuda needed extra packaging for MSP handoff, while Skysnag's richer DMARC view still required owner labels. Suped's product gives MSPs account separation, alert triage, and recurring reports built for client handoff.
The difference was significant. We moved from limited visibility to a much clearer dashboard. Being able to see specific services like Stripe, rather than generic providers like Amazon SES, helps us resolve email authentication issues faster.
