vs.
Across 90 days, we ran SendForensics and Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection against three domains, five approved senders, and controlled SPF, DKIM, forwarding, spoofing, and unknown-sender cases. SendForensics felt better for marketing and deliverability teams that also need DMARC analytics, while Barracuda made more sense when DMARC sits inside a broader email protection purchase.

Ten dimensions, scored from 0 to 10

We scored each product against a fixed editorial rubric after the 90-day test. Higher is better in every row, and a 0.0 means we did not find usable support for that capability in the tested workflow.

Barracuda scored higher on enforcement operations, while SendForensics scored higher on pricing clarity and deliverability context.

SendForensics was quicker to understand for known senders and published its limits clearly, but source resolution and enforcement planning still needed manual work. Barracuda gave us a stronger route through spoof review and policy movement, especially for Microsoft 365, but it lost points where DMARC-specific limits and hosted record capabilities were not public or not present.

Feature set

Deliverability depth vs security suite breadth

SendForensics gives more deliverability context. Barracuda gives cleaner enforcement context.

The stronger buy depends on whether DMARC is owned by marketing operations or security operations. In our tests, the main gap was how quickly each tool turned a Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, or unknown sender result into a safe next action. A buyer comparing Suped's product as a third option should require guided fixes and automated issue detection, because both products left some remediation steps outside the report view.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection screenshot
Unauthorized spoof stood out
Microsoft 365 domains auto-added
Subdomain DKIM needed review
SendForensics combined DMARC analytics with deliverability testing, so the same account showed our SendGrid and Mailchimp traffic beside campaign testing context. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace were easy to label after report volume arrived, and the SPF pass on the From domain and DKIM pass on the From domain cases were clear. The unknown sender required manual classification, and the forwarded mail with SPF failure needed us to explain why a DKIM domain match kept the message legitimate.
Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection felt more focused on domain abuse and enforcement inside Email Protection. Microsoft 365-connected domains appeared automatically, standalone DNS verification worked for Google Workspace and parked domains, and our unauthorized spoof sample was easier to isolate than in SendForensics. SendGrid and Mailchimp were visible as sending sources after reports landed, but the DKIM pass on a subdomain needed a policy review outside the basic drilldown before we were comfortable moving policy.

User experience

Control vs guidance

SendForensics is faster to read. Barracuda is steadier for enforcement.

SendForensics put more information on screen and made switching between deliverability and DMARC views quick. Barracuda used a slower setup path, but its reporting-only to enforcement flow was easier to explain to a security team.

Microsoft 365 onboarding helped
Standalone domains took longer
Forwarded SPF clearly marked
Onboarding the primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain in SendForensics took under an hour once DNS was ready. The interface made the known services easy to tag, but the unknown sender sat in a generic bucket until we compared IPs and envelope domains manually. The forwarded mail SPF failure was visible, yet the explanation required us to connect the DKIM domain match result to DMARC pass logic.
Barracuda's setup took longer because the Microsoft 365 connection pulled in one domain automatically, while Google Workspace and the parked domain needed standalone TXT verification. The unknown sender was easier to separate from approved sources because the abuse-focused view highlighted it near the spoof sample. For forwarded mail, Barracuda made the SPF failure obvious, but the UI still needed a clearer note that a DKIM domain match kept the message acceptable.

Support

Self serve vs enterprise handoff

SendForensics suits self-serve teams. Barracuda suits teams with security procurement.

SendForensics gave enough setup material for a technical marketer or admin to complete DNS records without a formal project. Barracuda's support path fit a broader Email Protection rollout better, especially when escalation and enterprise onboarding need named owners.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Clearer enterprise escalation
DNS verification well documented
Suite onboarding adds steps
During setup, SendForensics support expectations felt self-serve. The DNS handoff was straightforward for reporting records and approved senders, but we did not get much guided escalation when the unknown sender needed classification or when the forwarded SPF failure raised a policy question. This matched the review pattern we saw: useful docs, with support response quality that matters when timelines are tight.
Barracuda's support motion made more sense for enterprise onboarding. The DNS TXT verification steps were documented, escalation paths were clearer, and the product fit better when a security owner already manages Email Protection. The tradeoff was that a small team buying only DMARC reporting still had to navigate a wider security suite path before reaching the exact Domain Fraud Protection workflow.

Suitability

Operator fit vs suite fit

SendForensics fits operators. Barracuda fits security-led organizations.

For SMB and marketing teams, SendForensics was easier to justify because public pricing, report volume, and domain limits were clear. Barracuda fit security-led organizations that already buy bundled email protection and want DMARC enforcement in that operating model. MSPs comparing Suped's product as a third option should test account separation, recurring reports, client handoff notes, and alert quality before choosing, because those workflows changed more day-to-day effort than the raw DMARC charts.

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Better enterprise operating model
Domain grouping fits security
MSP handoff less native
SendForensics worked best when one operations team owned domains directly. Account separation appeared through higher-tier segmentation rather than a full MSP workspace, but domain grouping was workable for our primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain. Recurring reporting was useful for internal stakeholders, while client handoff notes still needed a separate process when we wrote remediation tasks for Microsoft 365, SendGrid, and Mailchimp owners.
Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection fit an enterprise or mid-market security team more naturally than a small agency. Account separation followed the broader Email Protection account model, domain grouping was fine for corporate domains, and recurring reporting made sense when paired with security operations. For MSP-style client handoff, we found more friction because the workflow centered on protected organizations rather than repeatable per-client remediation notes.

What each tool feels like after 90 days of real use

sendforensics.com logo
SendForensics

Best for operators who mix DMARC with campaign deliverability

After 90 days, SendForensics felt like a practical tool for teams that already think in campaigns, domains, and sender sources. We spent the most time labeling Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender, then checking whether report changes matched our controlled SPF and DKIM cases.
The best day-to-day value came when deliverability context sat beside DMARC report analysis, especially for the marketing subdomain. The weaker moments came when an unknown sender, forwarded SPF failure, or subdomain DKIM pass needed a written explanation for a non-technical owner.
Where it wins

Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Best for security teams already using Barracuda Email Protection

After 90 days, Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection felt strongest when DMARC was part of a larger security workflow. Microsoft 365-connected domains appeared cleanly, the unauthorized spoof sample was easy to isolate, and the reporting-only path gave our security reviewer a clear route toward quarantine.
The friction came when we treated it as a standalone DMARC reporting purchase. Google Workspace, the marketing subdomain, and the parked domain required more setup attention, and public pricing did not show DMARC volume or protected-domain limits.

If you cannot decide between the two, maybe the answer is Suped

Suped dashboard
Guided sender fixes
SendForensics showed the unknown sender but left classification and owner instructions largely manual; Suped's product turns that into a sender identity, status, and fix task.
Cleaner domain operations
Barracuda handled enforcement well, but standalone domains and parked domains took more setup attention; Suped's product combines hosted DMARC, hosted SPF, and hosted MTA-STS for simpler DNS ownership.
MSP-ready handoff
Both products needed extra process for recurring client notes in our test; Suped's product has MSP domain billing and domain-level workspaces for repeated handoff across client portfolios.
The difference was significant. We moved from limited visibility to a much clearer dashboard. Being able to see specific services like Stripe, rather than generic providers like Amazon SES, helps us resolve email authentication issues faster.
