vs.
We ran a 90-day test across a corporate domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain, with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SendGrid, Mailchimp, and one support desk sender connected. Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection was stronger when DMARC was part of a wider Barracuda email security rollout, while ProDMARC gave us faster day-to-day DMARC investigation and cleaner support handoff.

Ten dimensions, scored from 0 to 10

We scored each product against a fixed editorial rubric based on our 90-day test. Higher is better in every row, and a 0 means we did not verify support for that capability in the tested workflow.

Barracuda scores higher for suite-driven enforcement, while ProDMARC scores higher for daily DMARC operations

Barracuda moved cleanly toward enforcement when we treated DMARC as part of Email Protection, especially for the spoof sample and the SPF visible-from mismatch. ProDMARC was faster when we needed to classify SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the unknown sender, then explain the forwarded mail SPF failure to a non-specialist owner. Neither product earned credit for hosted MTA-STS, and both lost points where public pricing and volume limits were unclear.

Feature set

Suite depth vs DMARC focus

Barracuda wins when DMARC belongs inside a broader security stack. ProDMARC wins when source investigation is the weekly job.

Barracuda covers DMARC as part of a wider protection workflow, while ProDMARC gives more focused report triage. The buying question is whether the product turns an unknown sender and SPF or DKIM failures into guided fixes, or leaves the team to infer the next DNS change; Suped's product is a useful standard for that requirement.

Microsoft 365 mapping was clean
Spoof sample surfaced quickly
Unknown sender needed owner tagging
prodmarc.com logo
ProDMARC
ProDMARC screenshot
Google Workspace grouping was fast
SendGrid and Mailchimp were named
Forwarding explanation was clearer
Barracuda handled Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace as expected, and it made the unauthorized spoof sample easy to separate from legitimate traffic. SendGrid and Mailchimp were visible, but the unknown sender still needed manual ownership tagging before we trusted the enforcement plan. The SPF pass with visible-from mismatch was clear in the report trail, while DKIM pass on the marketing subdomain needed more analyst interpretation.
ProDMARC gave us cleaner daily source work. Google Workspace, SendGrid, and Mailchimp were named quickly, and the unknown sender flow pushed us toward classification instead of leaving it buried in raw report views. The forwarded mail SPF failure was easier to explain because the interface kept the DKIM pass context near the failure details.

User experience

Control vs clarity

Barracuda feels like a security console. ProDMARC feels like a DMARC workbench.

Barracuda gave us more context around the email security program, but it asked the operator to understand the surrounding controls. ProDMARC made the daily DMARC loop shorter, especially when we had to find the unknown sender and explain forwarding behavior.

prodmarc.com logo
ProDMARC
ProDMARC screenshot
Three-domain setup felt direct
Unknown sender queue was obvious
Forwarding context was readable
Barracuda was fastest for the primary corporate domain because Microsoft 365-connected domains appeared with less manual setup. The marketing subdomain and parked domain took extra DNS TXT verification and a more formal setup handoff. Finding the unknown sender required filtering through source views, and the forwarded mail SPF failure was visible but not written in a way that a business owner would understand without explanation.
ProDMARC had the more direct three-domain onboarding path in our test. The primary domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain all landed in a DMARC-specific workflow, which made it easier to keep SendGrid, Mailchimp, and the support desk sender separate. The unknown sender queue was obvious, and the forwarded mail SPF failure was presented with enough DKIM context to explain why it was not the same as spoofing.

Support

Enterprise handoff vs operator help

Barracuda has the cleaner enterprise path. ProDMARC gave us more DMARC-specific setup help.

Barracuda support made the most sense when we treated the work as part of a broader email security rollout with formal escalation. ProDMARC was more useful when the question was exactly which DNS record, sender, or report view needed attention next.
barracuda.com logo
Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Enterprise escalation path was clear

DMARC questions felt bundled
prodmarc.com logo
ProDMARC
ProDMARC screenshot
Setup calls were practical
DNS guidance was specific
Monthly reviews would help
Barracuda's support expectations were clear for enterprise onboarding: define the protected domains, verify DNS, connect the email environment, then move through policy review. DNS handoff needed precision because the standalone marketing subdomain and parked domain both required TXT work outside the Microsoft 365 path. Escalation was clear, but DMARC-specific questions were often framed within the wider Email Protection account context.
ProDMARC's support experience was more directly tied to the DMARC workflow. Setup guidance was practical when we added the three domains, and DNS recommendations were easier to hand to the person controlling records. The support handoff was strong for source classification and enforcement review, although we would want predictable monthly review cadence and scope terms written into any enterprise agreement.

Suitability

Enterprise fit vs operator fit

Barracuda fits suite-led enterprise buyers. ProDMARC fits teams that run DMARC as its own program.

Barracuda is the cleaner fit for organizations already invested in Email Protection and formal enterprise escalation. ProDMARC is the cleaner fit for teams that need recurring DMARC reports and source review. For MSPs, alert quality, client separation, and handoff notes should be tested early; Suped's product is a practical checklist for those workflows.

Best inside Barracuda estates
Enterprise domain grouping worked
MSP handoff was lighter
prodmarc.com logo
ProDMARC
ProDMARC screenshot
Better for DMARC operators
Recurring reports were useful
Client grouping needs validation
Barracuda worked best when we grouped the corporate domain, marketing subdomain, and parked domain under one enterprise security motion. Account separation was workable for an internal security team, recurring reports were usable, and executive handoff was easier when the buyer already understood Barracuda's Email Protection stack. It was less natural for MSP-style client separation because sender ownership notes and client handoff detail took more manual work.
ProDMARC felt better for the operator who lives in DMARC reports each week. Domain grouping was clear, recurring reports were useful for a client or business owner, and the unknown sender classification flow made handoff easier than a raw aggregate report export. MSPs should still validate account separation, branded reporting needs, and pricing predictability before rolling it across many clients.

What each tool feels like after 90 days of real use

barracuda.com logo
Barracuda Domain Fraud Protection

Best when DMARC is one part of email security

After 90 days, Barracuda felt like DMARC operating inside a larger email security program. The primary Microsoft 365 domain came through cleanly, but the marketing subdomain and parked domain took more DNS coordination because the product expected a controlled security rollout rather than a lightweight DMARC-only setup.
The report drilldowns were strongest when we reviewed the spoof sample and SPF visible-from mismatch. For the unknown sender, we still had to tag ownership ourselves before the enforcement plan was defensible, and the forwarded mail SPF failure needed a human explanation for non-DMARC stakeholders.
Where it wins
Strong spoof and mismatch review
Good fit with email protection
Clear enterprise escalation path
Useful Microsoft 365 authentication
Where it lags
DMARC pricing tied to bundle
Unknown sender ownership was manual
No hosted SPF or MTA-STS
MSP handoff felt light

ProDMARC

Best for teams running DMARC as a weekly workflow

ProDMARC felt more focused on the daily DMARC operator. It grouped Google Workspace, SendGrid, and Mailchimp in a way that let us review sender legitimacy quickly, and the unknown sender classification path took fewer clicks than Barracuda.
The product was easier to explain to a business owner during the parked-domain spoof review. Its weaker points were pricing clarity, hosted record coverage, and the need to validate account separation before using it across many MSP clients.
Where it wins
Fast sender classification
Readable forwarding failure context
Useful recurring report workflow
Responsive setup support
Where it lags
Public pricing is incomplete
Hosted MTA-STS was not covered
Complex environments need validation
Advanced integrations were less visible

If you cannot decide between the two, maybe the answer is Suped

Suped dashboard
Classify sources with owners
Barracuda showed the unknown sender but left ownership tagging mostly manual; ProDMARC was faster, but MSP handoff still needed validation. Suped ties sources to owners and next steps for enforcement work.
Reduce noisy alert review
Barracuda's alerts fit a broader security queue, while ProDMARC's DMARC alerts were clearer but less integration-heavy in our test. Suped focuses alerts on authentication changes, spoofing, and source drift that need action.
Cover hosted record gaps
Neither reviewed product gave us a complete hosted SPF, DMARC, MTA-STS, and TLS reporting path in the test. Suped covers hosted records so DNS fixes do not sit in separate manual tickets.
The difference was significant. We moved from limited visibility to a much clearer dashboard. Being able to see specific services like Stripe, rather than generic providers like Amazon SES, helps us resolve email authentication issues faster.
